AAPI Restaurant Weeks is back, running from Thursday, May 1 to Sunday, June 15, as OCA-Greater Houston honors Asian and Pacific Islander heritage with special menus at restaurants across Asiatown and the Greater Houston area. The event highlights the diversity of AAPI-owned establishments and chefs while raising funds to provide rice and noodles to low-income seniors. Folks can donate $15 or more to receive a special code and to enjoy special offers from discounts to complimentary treats at participating restaurants.
On Thursday, May 8, chef Aaron Bludorn continues his Blu Bayou dinner series with a special Italian feast at Bludorn, 807 Taft, with special guest Sarah Grueneberg, the James Beard Award-winning chef-owner of Monteverde Restaurant and Pastificio in Chicago. Expect a multi-course, family-style evening featuring dishes such as scampi on the half shell, mozzarella stuffed arancini, skirt steak giardiniera, eggplant parm, a Neapolitan ice cream sundaes and more. Reservations are $115 per guest.
Uchiko Houston, 1800 Post Oak, is celebrating moms with a five-piece Motherโs Day Tart Box, available exclusively for preorder by Friday, May 9 for pickup on Saturday, May 10 or Sunday, May 11. The box features a Tropical Tart with macadamia crust, mango passion curd and banana yuzu jam; Chocolate Gochujang Tart with cookie crust, gochujang dulce de leche, strawberry curd and dark chocolate namelaka; Yuzu Cheesecake with poppyseed crust, mascarpone cheesecake and lemon curd; and more.
POST Houston, 401 Franklin, is hosting an Asian American and Pacific Islander Month Celebration on Saturday, May 10. The free, family-friendly event runs all day and features traditional AAPI cuisine, cultural performances, sumo and martial arts demos, a cosplay competition and pop-up market from noon to 9 p.m.
Intimate fine dining experience Bon Vivant returns to Four Seasons Hotel Houston, 1300 Lamar, on Monday, May 12, bringing together over 20 of the cityโs top chefs for a five-course dinner experience while supporting academic success for underserved students. Each participating chef will take over a private table for an intimate, interactive dining experience complete with curated wine pairings, and all proceeds benefit Youth Development Centerโs after-school academic remediation programs. Individual tickets start at $1,000.
Southern Smoke Foundationโs sellout fundraiser Respect the Rosรฉ returns to Houston on Saturday, May 17, featuring Under the Sea Prom-themed evening and collaborative dinnerย at Brennanโs of Houston, 3300 Smith. Expect an epic meal from culinary titans Andy Ticer, Michael Hudman, Stephen Stryjewski, Chris Shepherd, Ryan Prewitt and the Brennan’s team alongsideย a curated selection of rosรฉ and other standout wines. Tickets are $275 and all proceeds benefit SSF. The evening runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
