Cinco de Mayo — the commemoration of Mexico’s victory over the French forces at the 1862 Battle of Puebla held annually on May 5 — is right around the corner; and while it may not be widely celebrated in Mexico, it certainly is in Houston, as these local kitchens and watering holes prove. Here’s where to drink cerveza and tequila, down tacos and tostadas, dance to mariachi bands and DJs and have all the Cinco de Mayo fun in Houston this year:

a’Bouzy, 2300 Westheimer
Cinco de Clicquot returns featuring bubbles from Veuve Clicquot paired with Mexican-inspired dishes, all day long. Features include pink ceviche, spicy shrimp tostadas, snapper aguachile and more.

Axelrad Beer Garden, 1517 Alabama
Hit the beer garden for $6 house margaritas, rocks or frozen and in flavors including strawberry, peach, passionfruit, watermelon and spicy pickle.

Cadillac Bar, 1802 Shepherd
The restaurant is throwing a Cinco de Mayo fiesta beginning at 4 p.m., featuring a DJ and mariachi band, street taco stand, margaritas, beer buckets and a signature Cinco de Mayo cocktail.

Camerata at Paulie’s, 1830 Westheimer
On May 5 from 4 p.m. until midnight, Camerata will be offering a complete Cinco de Mayo menu featuring a wide variety of Mexican wines, beers and snack foods complete with information on the regions represented and how each reflects the land and terrain it comes from. The food and menus have been created by sommelier Roberto Kates and general manager Elyse Wilson. The evening is open to everyone with no tickets or door charges.

Candente, 4306 Yoakum
Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour features ($6) margaritas, palomas, frozens and classics from 3 to 6 p.m. followed by a 9-piece mariachi band, The UH Mariachi Pumas, from 7 to 8 p.m. Revelers can also enjoy complimentary paletas by La Brisa Ice Cream and capture the fun at a selfie photo booth.

Chivos, 222 West 11th
The Mexican-American eatery in the Heights will feature specials on ceviche tostadas and tlayudas and drinks with El Tesoro and Hornitos tequilas from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Chuy's, multiple locations
Chuy’s is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with all-day Happy Hour, including discounts on drinks and $5 queso appetizers, plus $1 floaters to top off your margarita with an extra pour of your favorite tequila.

Davis St. at Hermann Park, 5925 Almeda
Guests are invited to a prix fixe upscale Cinco de Mayo meal for $55 per person. Chef Mark Holley and crew are no stranger to cooking with flavors from Latin America, with Oaxacan cuisine infused into the daily menu features.

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with all day long drink specials, including Frozen/On the Rocks Margaritas ($10) made with Pueblo Viejo Blanco Tequila or Ilegal Mezcal, Rio Grande Orange, lime oleo, fresh lime juice, egg white and salt tincture; and Ranchwaters ($10) made with Marfa Spirit Co. Chihuahuan Desert Sotol, clarified lime, lime oleo, grapefruit oil, salt and Topo Chico). A Mariachi band and Pueblo Shot girls will be on site from 4 to 6 p.m.

El Big Bad, 419 Travis
The downtown tequila temple is throwing its Cinco de Mayo fiesta for the 12th year, featuring happy hour from 2 to 5 p.m. and an all-day drink specials on premium margaritas made with Astral Blanco Tequila, plus a Cinco de Mayo Holiday Market (5 tp 10 p.m.) by Houston Latina Bloggers, face painting (5 to 10 p.m.), DJ beats (10 p.m. to 2 a.m.) and Mariachi (8:30 to 9:30 p.m.). The kitchen is open until 2 a.m., with last orders at 1:30.

El Pollo Loco, multiple locations
In addition to a $5 for two premium tacos deal this Cinco de Mayo, customers can earn a free custom El Pollo Loco x Tapatío bottle with any order placed on May 5. Custom Tapatío bottles will be available via digital orders only and are not available in restaurant. And over in El Pollo Loco's Instagram, a Cinco de Mayo giveaway will give out prizes every five minutes for five hours straight beginning at noon.

The Spring Branch lcoation will have half-off frozen margs all day, plus food specials to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Flying Fish, 1815 North Durham
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with half- priced Classic Lime and Strawberry Margaritas, available frozen or on the rocks all-day long for dine-in and also available curbside to enjoy at home ($3-$4.50, 10 to 18 ounces).

Hopdoddy, multiple locations
Hopdoddy is offering a Cinco de Mayo bundle featuring nacho fries and two lil Larry margaritas for $15; and its reintroducing the fan-favorite Bidi Bidi Burger (starting at $11.75), available beginning May 4 through the month's end and featuring a certified Piedmontese beef taco patty topped with black bean spread, tostadas, Tillamook pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo, cotija cheese, shredded lettuce, chipotle aioli, guacamole crema and chopped cilantro.
Hugo’s, 1600 Westheimer
Sip $2-off margaritas all day and half-off Hugo’s “Greatest Margarita Ever Sold” alongside live music by Viento and live Mexican dancers.

Hungry’s, 14714 Memorial, 2356 Rice Boulevard
Hungry’s will be releasing its Frozen Mango Margarita for the summer months, hitting the menu on Cinco de Mayo. Customers can snag the popular frozen for $10.

Jax Grill, multiple locations
All locations will be offering $5 Margaritas and $4 beers all day long, plus three Mexican-inspired dishes including the 3 Amigos appetizer with salsa roja, green chili queso, guacamole and tortilla chips; Gulf Coast Fish Tacos; and a Mesquite Fajita Trio for two with 7-spice chicken breast, two shrimp brochette, beef fajita, warm flour tortillas, pico de gallo, sour cream, rice pilaf and charro beans.

La Calle Tacos & Tortas, 909 Franklin
Sip on La Calle’s all-natural Frozen Margaritas, featuring El Jimador Blue Agave Tequila and freshly cut and squeezed fruits in flavors from watermelon and lime to mango and chamoy for $8.99; along with Micheladas for $7.99-$8.99. Spirits will flow 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on May 5 at La Calle Downtown (it also has a second location in Midtown at 401 Gray).

Live Oak Bar & Grill, 10444 Hempstead
Live Oak Bar & Grill will offer margaritas for $6 all day with the choice of classic lime or a seasonal flavor; Mexican candy Jell-O shots will be $3 and additional shot specials will include Herradura tequila; and chicken and steak tacos with corn or flour tortillas, cilantro, onions and green or red salsa will be available for $2.

Loch Bar, 4444 Westheimer
The restaurant will be offering a Don Julio happy hour featuring $12 Don Julio Margaritas and ranch waters from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

LORO, 1001 West 11th
The Asian smokehouse and bar is teaming up with Siete Foods on a Cinco de Mayo special: a Collaborative Queso ($12), made with Siete cashew queso, brisket, Thai green salsa, chili oil, cilantro and Loro wonton chips.

Maize, 14795 Memorial
Traditional Mexican entrees include Barbacoa de Res, slow-cooked in giant agave leaves and served with habanero sauce, pickled onion, cilantro, and fresh corn tortillas for $29, or the Tacos de Insectos, featuring chapulines, hormigas, gusanos and Eescamoles served with four corn tortillas, for $48. Festive cocktail options include the Cintli, a margarita-style refresher comprising Sotol, purple corn syrup, nixta, lime, and roasted corn salt for $13, and the Oaxaca Old Fashioned, featuring tequila, mezcal, agave, and grapefruit bitters for $13.

Moe’s Southwest Grill, multiple locations

Monkey’s Tail, 5802 Fulton
The party starts early, with festive libations from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and four total bars to order from, including a brand new outdoor bar. Patrons can enjoy frozen mangonadas, a Modelito Marg (large frozen Tommy’s with Chamoy, Tajin and a Mini Modelo sunk in) and draft ranch water, plus a prize wheel, mariachis throughout the day, and food features including an outdoor burrito and taco stand, boiled crawfish and a $5 specials menu.

The Original Ninfa’s, 1700 Post Oak
Ninfa’s is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with "Top Chef: Houston" viewing party from 6 to 9 p.m., when the episode slated to air will feature a visit to Ninfa’s. To cheer on hometown contestant chef Evelyn Garcia, bar director Angel Belman created the Piña-mezcalita, featuring Damiana Herb Liqueur, Ilegal Mezcal Joven, Chile Poblano Liqueur, fresh roasted pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, lime juice, agave syrup, chamoy and a tajin rim, for $13.

Ouisie’s Table Restaurant, 3939 San Felipe
This local institution will be offering a Cinco de Mayo food and drink lunch menu ($25 for a drink and a main course meal) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Choose from a Margarita, Paloma or Ranch Water cocktail alongside main plates including Ouisie’s Sunset Chicken Enchiladas, Seared Snapper Tacos or Ouisie’s signature Grilled Chicken a la Juanita

Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House, 113 6th
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a midweek escape to San Leon for margarita and taco specials, plus frozen flights—including the House Margarita—and more.

Revelry on Richmond, 1613 Richmond
The patio bar and kitchen is offering a half pound fajita special of chicken or beef for $16with rice and beans. A $5 house margarita special will also be available from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Rustic Uptown, 1121 Uptown Park
The restaurant, bar and live music venue will be featuring $20 Modelo beer buckets, quesadillas and Joe Leo tacos, plus Cinco-themed décor, mariachis and live music.

Savoir, 1344 Yale
The Heights favorite will offer various $9 margaritas, including the Classic Margarita with tequila, lime and agave; a Mango Margarita with tequila, lime, mango puree and agave; and a Spicy Mezcal Margarita with mezcal, lime, agave and three dashes of habanera tincture.

Space Cowboy, 100 West Cavalcade
Space Cowboy will host a Cinco de Mayo party on Thursday, May 5 with Lucha libre, a traditional mariachi band and a concert celebrating the legacy of Selena. The food menu by Chef Adriana Maldonado will have specials on birria tacos, elote and churros; and drink specials include discounts on drinks with Hornitos and Mucha Liga tequilas and Modelo beers. The Night Moves Hospitality collective will also celebrate the one-year anniversary of Space Cowboy, and it will include a market beginning at noon with vendors curated by Have A Nice Day.

Spanish Village, 4720 Almeda
Spanish Village is back and will be serving $5 Spanish Village Margaritas all day, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Flavored margaritas like mango and strawberry are $7.

Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen, 6401 Woodway,1140 Eldridge
Both Sylvia’s locations will offer Cinco de Mayo brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. complete with $5 house margaritas; and since it’s also National Enchilada Day, lunch and dinner includes a Puebla Enchiladas special, with a choice of chicken or pork and chef-owner Sylvia Casares’ signature mole sauce ($4 each all day long).
Tacos A Go Go (Greenway), 3773 Richmond
The newest location of Tacos A Go Go in the Greenway area will host a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on its patio from 4 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, featuring live music and a gift card for the first ten people who tag Tacos A Go Go in a public social media post at the party.

Taco Cabana, multiple locations
Taco Cabana will launch a new partnership with Tajín, introducing a $4 Tajín Margarita available at all Texas locations while supplies last.

The Tasting Room, 818 Town and Country
Hit the patio from 11 a.m. to midnight, as chef Beto Gutierrez puts out Mexican treats from spicy shrimp tacos and mango habanero salsa to grilled flank steak tacos and homemade guacamole. Specialty margaritas will be available all day, including the show stopping 24K Margarita made with 7 Lenguas Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier, orange juice, lime juice and agave; a Spicy Pineapple Margarita made with Corazon Blanco Tequila, pineapple juice, triple sec, fresh lime and tajin; and a Ghost Margarita with heat from spicy ghost pepper-infused tequila, plus triple sec, lime and agave.

Tobiuo Sushi & Bar, 23501 Cinco Ranch
Tobiuo invites guests to enjoy $5 margaritas all day for Cinco de Mayo, from traditional margaritas in lime, strawberry or mango to watermelon mint, prickly pear or torched palomas.

Toro Toro, 1300 Lamar
The pan Latin steakhouse will celebrate with tequila specials all day and night in Toro Toro (Mi Campo margaritas for $10 and Casa Noble palomas for $13) and DJ music from 6 to 10 p.m.

Traveler’s Table,  520 Westheimer
Global Steak Night turns Cinco de Mayo-style for one-night only, featuring a special Mexican Carne Asada with tequila-marinated skirt steak, Mexican rice, nopales salsa, pork-refried beans, and chicharron for $30.

Treebeards, 9655 Katy Freeway
Get $5 house margaritas all day long on Cinco de Mayo at the Bunker Hill location in Memorial. Full and half orders of Crab & Shrimp Queso will also be available, along with crisp Blackberry Ginger Margaritas, featuring Exotico Tequila, ginger syrup, lime, agave and Mathilde Cassis, for $12.

Urban South Brewery, 1201 Oliver
The Sawyer Yards brewery has three new beer releases on the calendar that will be available on draft and in cans starting Thursday, May 5 at 5 p.m., including the Double Spilled Mexican Candy fruited sour Double Spilled Mangonada fruited sour and Sur Urbano Michelada Mexican Lager featuring Michelada76’s Michelada drink mix (available on draft only). In addition to the new beer releases, Crush City BBQ will be onsite serving up tacos, birria quesadillas and such.

URBE, 1101 Uptown Park
For its first Cinco de Mayo, URBE will celebrate the day with a special ticketed event, One Night in Jalisco, sponsored by El Tesoro Tequila. The fiesta will feature food and drink stations with margaritas and street food classics, plus live music for $65 per person plus tax.

Velvet Taco, multiple locations
As a part of the WTF (Weekly Taco Feature), Velvet Taco will be offering a special Steak Milanese Taco ($5.95) from May 4 – May 10. The Steak Milanese taco features breaded steak, avocado, red chile aioli, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo crema, and pickled fresnos in a flour tortilla. Additionally, Velvet Taco will host a Kick Ass Margarita Party Giveaway on its Instagram taking place on Thursday, May 5.
