Huffington Post: In the first of two articles that set Houstonian tongues wagging this week, travel writer David Landsel offers his reasons as to why Austin is the most overrated tourist destination in America -- and why Houston is the most underrated. Among them, Landsel includes "plenty of good food" in Houston and "fun-loving locals who are generally anything but uptight."

The Daily Beast: You have to love an article called "Houston Rising." Demographer Joel Kotkin expounds upon his theory that the "real trend-setters of the future" are cities like our own. The strong economy and job growth that Kotkin ascribes to Houston is also one of the main reasons our food scene grows stronger every day.

Gastronaut: Over at the Houstonia's food blog, Robb Walsh expounds on the history of steak tartare with a video of its tableside preparation at Tony's.

CultureMap: Looking forward to a night out? These next two links are for you. Ruthie Miller Johnson has her monthly roundup of the 10 best restaurants to eat at right now, which includes the pop-up barbecue run at Killen's in Pearland and The Good Life in Midtown, with a menu designed by Roost chef Kevin Naderi (who is also responsible for the fun little menu at Saint Genevieve).

Eater Houston: Over at Eater Houston, editor Eric Sandler offers up nearly 40 suggestions in the April edition of the Eater 38. "This highly elite group covers the entire city, spans myriad cuisines, and collectively satisfies all of your restaurant needs," he writes, and includes The Pass & Provisions, Triniti, Teotihucan and Crawfish & Noodles.

29-95: Time marches ever on, even for old warhorses like The Palm. Greg Morago reports that the classic steakhouse, which opened in 1978, has temporarily closed "for a dramatic -- and much needed -- top-to-bottom renovation." When it opens this summer, will it still be déclassé to call it "The Palm" instead of simply "Palm"?
