If you're a lady who loves lager, there's a new(ish) club in town for you: Texas Girls' Pint Out is a group of hardcore beer nerds and geeks -- labels which they bear proudly -- who also happen to be women. They're in the process of organizing all manner of events for the coming months, like book clubs for beer nerds and a pub quiz night at Flying Saucer.

In the meantime, they're hosting a Labor Day celebration at Anvil Bar & Refuge with $4 Texas beers on September 6. From 5 to 9 p.m., enjoy a cheap Texas brew and the fact that you didn't have to work on a Monday with the lovely ladies of Texas Girls' Pint Out.

Speaking of beer, Saint Arnold along with Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka and Lucky Strike Lanes is hosting Bowling for Boats this coming Tuesday, August 31, to help replace The Osprey, the pontoon boat that was destroyed by an intentionally set fire on July 4.

The boat belonged to the Buffalo Bayou Partnership and was used to give tours along the Bayou. The estimated cost to replace the boat -- which provided significant funds to the Partnership -- is $100,000, of which nearly $80,000 has been raised already. To help out, Bowling for Boats is taking $25 donations, all of which will go to the Partnership in an effort to defray the cost of replacement. What do you get for that $25 donation? Saint Arnold beer, Deep Eddy vodka, bowling shoes and a night of lighting up the lanes at Lucky Strike. So head out to the Pavilions next Tuesday from 7 to 10 p.m. and help buy a new pontoon boat for a deserving organization while you enjoy some booze and bowling.

Over at CityCentre, Straits is winding down a month-long celebration of Singapore's 45th year of independence with a rotating menu featuring a spotlight on the cultures that influenced Singapore's cuisine over the years. This weekend winds up a week of celebrating Malaysian food, so you have until August 29 to enjoy a special menu featuring treats like nasi lemak, beef rendeng and pisang goreng for dessert.

The last week of Straits' celebration will take place from August 30 to September 5 and will feature the foods of Indonesia. Gado gado salad, oxtail soup (a.k.a. buntut, ayam kalasan and more will be available at the restaurant. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 713-365-9922.

Up for a last-minute road trip? The 15th Annual Margarita & Salsa Festival is taking place in Waco this Saturday, August 28, from 5 p.m. to midnight. The yearly festival is a huge draw -- and not just for Baylor students (although be prepared for plenty of those). Tickets are $32 and will get you the opportunity to sample all the margaritas, salsa and queso you can handle. But don't overdo it: You still have to vote on your favorite in order for the judges to award Peoples' Choice at the end of the evening. On stage, several Texas bands will be performing, including Wade Bowen, Eli Young Band and Randy Rogers Band. Get some!
