This month, Peli Peli kicked off its new charity-of-the-month program, where a set amount of each prix fixe brunch and dinner sold throughout that month will be donated to a select charity. This month's charity is The Sunshine Kids Foundation, a Houston-based non-profit organization that is committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support to young cancer patients. January prix fixe menu offerings include a four-course $45 dinner menu ($3 of each meal donated to the charity) featuring the restaurant's popular espetada, curry chicken, sticky toffee pudding, and more. A $25 brunch -- featuring South African eggs benedict, bobotie egg crepe and passion fruit crepe -- will be available on Saturdays and Sundays. 110 Vintage Park

On Wednesday, January 14 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Judah Kuper and Aquilino Garcia Lopez of Mezcal Vago and David Suro of Siembra Spirits are visiting The Pastry War, 310 Main, for a round table discussion of the artistic and time-honored traditions behind their products. The roundtable and tasting event is free to attend, with all other Mezcal Vago and Siembre Spirits are half off until 6:30 p.m. Following the round table, The Pastry War is joining forces with Cuchara, 214 Fairview, who is hosting a dinner with Mezcal Vago. The "Seven Moles" dinner features Pastry War cocktails and pairings with food from Cuchara for $95 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 713-942-0000.

YAGA's 6th annual Chili Quest & Beer Fest will be held on Saturday, January 17, with a special kick-off party at Beerfoot Brewery, 2816 Avenue R 1/2, on Friday, January 16. Saturday's festivities -- held near the intersection of 23rd and Strand -- include live music, a washer tournament, a 5k Fun Run, and beer and chili tastings, of course. Get tickets (starting at $12 for the chili tasting) online.

The Woodlands Berryhill Baja Grill, 9595 Six Pines, is celebrating its 10th birthday for one full week beginning Monday, January 19. The event will feature daily $10 specials (like 10 tamales for $10 on Monday, 4 fish tacos for $10 on Tuesday, and more), plus ten weekend drawings for ten $10 gift cards and daily giveaways of the Brad Pitt movie Legends of the Fall -- which the restaurant's massive wooden bar was featured in. To finish off with a bang, all $10 specials will be offered alongside live music on Sunday, January 25.

On Tuesday, January 20, Bistro Provence is hosting a "Hidden Wineries of France Wine Dinner." For $95 per person (plus tax and gratuity), the event will feature wine pairings from the owners of Rice Village's French Country Wines alongside a five-course French winter feast. Expect warm goat cheese with honey and ham, seven-hour leg of lamb, beef bourguignon and more. 13616 Memorial
