The team at Kenny & Ziggy’s New York Delicatessen, 2327 Post Oak, 5172 Buffalo Speedway, have come up with enormous Hanukkah and Festival of Lights menus that can be ordered in advance and taken home. Both menus feature offerings to feed six to ten people or fewer, with some popular dishes that can be ordered individually. The Hanukkah ala carte menu has a variety of latkes, each kind sold by the dozen, plus soups, dairy items and more than a dozen cakes, pies and cookie options for dessert. As for the main course and sides, the menu offers some of the deli’s most popular dishes, including stuffed cabbage, brisket, kasha varnishkas, fried kreplach and sweet noodle kugel. The Festival of “De-Lights” menu ($275) has a Deli Platter Party for Ten, which includes among the items chopped liver, franks in a blanket, a variety of slice deli meats, cole slaw and potato salad. There’s also the Family Dinner for Ten ($215) which includes, among the foods, chicken soup, matzo balls, apricot-roasted chickens and brisket. To order, call 713-871-8883. Chama Gaúcha Brazilian Steakhouse, 5865 Westheimer, is hosting an exclusive five-course “rodizio" wine dinner in its private room on Monday, December 11 at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy five unique wines from France, California and Canada paired with traditional dishes and flame-roasted meats served on skewers and carved tableside by the gauchos. Max’s Wine Dive Washington, 4720 Washington, invites guests to a special holiday wine dinner featuring Burgundy varietals with expert Neil Ruane, held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12. Featured dishes include a crab cake starter, walnut-crusted redfish and veal and foie gras-wrapped meatloaf, paired with a variety of wines from light to dark. Cost is $65 per person (tax/tip excluded) and includes bubbles upon arrival, food and wine pairings and a special dessert paired with bubbles. Seating is limited. Call 713- 880-8737.

On Tuesday, December 12 beginning at 7:30 p.m., Brasserie du Parc, 1440 Lamar, will be hosting a free match-making party for lovers of wine and the wines of Bordeaux. Part of a series of events across the country sponsored by the French Bordeaux Wine Council, the event invites guests to try some half dozen or more leading wines from Bordeaux paired with passed appetizers. In addition, there will be music, a Bordeaux wheel to win prizes and a number of wine experts to discuss the vintages being served. The event is free as long as you pre-register (required to attend).
La Table, 1800 Post Oak, will be offering a special a la carte Hanukkah menu, available from Tuesday, December 12 through Wednesday, December 20. The menu features Hanukkah favorites like matzah ball soup, potato latkes, homemade challah bread and La Table’s signature heritage chicken for two, served with mushrooms, winter vegetables and potato purée.
Bistro Provence, 13616 Memorial, invites guests to a most exquisite Christmas season wine dinner on Wednesday, December 13 beginning at 7 p.m. The chef will present a multi-course French dinner paired with a selection of exclusive wines from Houston’s French Country Wines, with special guest and French wine expert, Jean-Marc Espinasse. Izakaya, 318 Gray, will be teaming up with The Brunch Society to host an Ugly Sweater Brunch on Saturday, December 16. The doors open at 11 a.m. for early arrivals, but from 1 to 5 p.m. there will be plenty of sweater-related fun and games, including a judging on the ugliest mound of knitting. Deejay FXBOXolmos will be keeping the music going, and there will be a specially-priced brunch menu to order from. There is no admission charge.
