Upcoming Houston Food Events: Get Yourself a FREE Burger


Every Sunday through Sunday, June 14, Brenner’s on the Bayou, 1 Birdsall,  will be hosting a Bands on the Bayou spring series at the Blue Bar. In addition to enjoying live music from local acts, guests can cool off and fill up with happy hour specials, including a selection of $4 craft beers, $6 small plates, $7 wines by the glass, and $6 to $10 cocktails. The events run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In observance of National Hamburger Day, eT Craft Burgers & Beer, 19841 Northwest Fwy, will be giving away FREE burgers on Thursday, May 28. Starting at 11 a.m., be one of the first 100 customers to mention the secret phrase – “I love National Hamburger Month” – at the register and enjoy your burger, which you can craft with unlimited toppings, free of charge. They burger spot will also be keeping the celebrations going all month long with a 25 percent off offer on any Craftsman Combo meal – a value of up to $5.25. Simply mention the secret phrase to redeem.

On Thursday, May 28, join local chefs in competing for the best Gulf-Coast-inspired bite at the 5th Annual Kiss My Grits throwdown, held at Silver Street Studios, 2000 Edwards. The event, hosted by Young Texans Against Cancer, also includes a southern inspired cocktail challenge from top area bartenders. Tickets can be purchased in advance for individuals ($50, $75 VIP) or couples ($85, $100 VIP). The event runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with one hour early access for VIP ticket holders.


The day has finally arrived. The first storefront of Fluff Bake Bar, from Houston’s “Sugar Fairy” and cult confectioner Rebecca Masson, is slated for a May 28 debut in the bustling Post Midtown Square at 314 Gray. A first of its kind concept in Houston, the venue, funded in part through key seed capital from a Kickstarter campaign, will act as a bakery by day and dessert bar by night, offering plated flights with beer and wine pairings. Masson is also planning for a variety of pop-up experiences, beginning with a bake sale featuring Philip Speer on Saturday, June 13.

From June 1 through June 7, The Woodlands will be celebrating its Wine & Food Week. This week-long celebration welcomes 10,000+ guests to choose from a broad selection of culinary and wine offerings designed for both the novice and serious enthusiast. Events, featuring more than 500 wines, 50 restaurants, and legendary wine producers and culinary personalities, include the H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street, a Grand Tasting and Chef Showcase, and more.
