In celebration of its ten-year anniversary, Killen's Steakhouse, 6425 West Broadway, will be hosting a lineup of all-night happy hours in the bar, from Monday, April 25 through Friday, April 29. Each night will feature special bites and fun events, including Monday's MCM (Man Crush Monday), where guests can hang out with chef Ronnie Killen and sip his favorite drinks; Tuesday's Ten on Ten, when they'll be cracking open ten series of St. Arnold's Bishops Barrel beers; Wednesday's Around the World in 10 Wines; Thursday's TBT, featuring wells and beers with prices from ten years ago; and live music on Friday.
Back in December, Hay Merchant hosted a tasting of un-aged espresso-blended beer, a collaboration between Clown Shoes, Blacksmith and Hay Merchant. It’s been aging in a bourbon barrel for four months, and all parties involved have determined the beer is ready! So on Monday, April 25 at 5 p.m., they'll be tapping this special brew, dubbed Hephaestus, at Hay Merchant, 1100 Westheimer. Get a taste of the brew, which boasts classic notes of coffee and barrel notes of honey and vanilla, at the tapping event, or look out for it on draft and in bottles throughout Texas.
Caracol, 2200 Post Oak, is spotlighting several of The Valle de Guadalupe’s grapes at a special Baja wine dinner on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Guests can indulge in a reception, plus four wine-paired courses, including dishes such as pan-seared jumbo scallop with apricot-fig mole, butterflied boneless snapper with crispy rice and sautéed greens, wood-grilled rib eye with cauliflower puree and charred Brussels sprouts, and roasted pineapple and stone fruit over orange custard.
Pluckers Wing Bar, 1400 Shepherd, will be hosting an NFL draft party on Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m. Each Pluckers location will select specific guests to act as a “general manager” for an NFL team in the first round. The manager will be asked to guess who his or her team will draft, and if the guess is correct, everyone at that Pluckers location will be eligible for a food or drink special available only until the next team’s pick. Specials will include rotating food and drink specials and will go up in value as the draft picks become harder to predict.

Our 5th Annual Houston Press & Lucky’s Pub BrewFest is coming up on Saturday, April 30 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Silver Street Station, 1501 Silver. Expect a fantastic roster of more than 150 craft beers, local food trucks and live music. General admission tickets are $35 (or $45 day of if available) and include eight 3-ounce wine, liquor or beer sampling, plus entertainment. VIP tickets are $60 (or $70 day of) and include all of that, PLUS access to VIP Area that is serving up specialty/seasonal beers and complimentary food. 21 and up
Limited tickets remain for Lucky Dog Rescue’s “Chefs for Dogs” event, held at Revival Market, 550 Heights, on Sunday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. The eight-course seated dinner features an all-star roster of local chefs, including Alyssa Dole, pastry chef of Coltivare/Revival Market; Mike Elroy, executive chef of The Durham House; and Graham Laborde, executive chef of Bernadine’s, to name a few. Tickets are available via a $150 donation to Lucky Dog Rescue.
On Sunday, May 1, Underbelly, 1100 Westheimer, will be transforming into Chris Shepherd's Korean Chicken Dinner House, inspired by Babe's Chicken Dinner House in Roanoke, Texas. The benefit event will celebrate the life of pastry chef Victoria Dearmond's closest friend, Emily Rhodes Beard, and will raise money to pay off her remaining medical bills. Doors open at 11 a.m., and guests will be seated at large community tables and given two options: Korean fried chicken or ssamjang-crusted smoked short ribs. Both come with all the fixings: kimchi slaw, Korean macaroni salad and Korean-style green salad. Cost is $45 per person, and Dearmond will also be rocking a bake sale with goodies for $5 each. No reservations are required. The special will run from 11 a.m. until they sell out.
Bistro Provence, 13616 Memorial, will be hosting a five-course Domaine Quiot wine dinner with winery representatives Jean-Louis Smy and Kevin Metivier on Tuesday, May 3, beginning at 7 p.m. Highlights include duck leg with lavender sauce, sautéed lamb “Avignonnaise,” and honey and hazelnut nougatine, all paired with fabulous wines. The cost per person is $85 plus tax and gratuity. A $40 deposit via Paypal is required to secure the reservation, forfeited for failing to show up or not canceling at least 48 hours in advance.
