Upcoming Houston Food Events: Sip n' Stroll & Date Night Cooking

Kick-off the return of football season with Cordúa restaurants at the Churrascos Club at NRG Stadium on Sunday, September 13 at noon, where you can tailgate in style as the Houston Texans take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The game-day menu will feature dishes such as slow smoked beef brisket, pork spare ribs, cornmeal crusted catfish & hush puppies with jalapeño remoulade, pecan pie empanadas and tres leches. Ticket prices range from $125 to $135 per person. Tickets are available for purchase online. Space is limited and seating subject to availability. 

Tony Mandola’s Gulf Coast Kitchen, 1212 Waugh, will be hosting its monthly Third Wednesday Sip and Stroll, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16. Hit their New Orleans style tree-shaded patio or dining room to enjoy California wines with the restaurant’s signature Gulf Coast, Cajun and Italian cuisine. Pairings include Salmon Burger Sliders with Honig Sauvignon Blanc; and Smoked Spare Ribs and Blackberry BBQ Sauce with Donati Cabernet Sauvignon. Cost is $35 per person. Join Arnaldo Richards’ Picos, 3601 Kirby, for a Cuvaison and Brandlin wine seminar on Thursday, September 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enjoy complimentary lite bites and a fondue bar crafted to perfectly complicate each of the featured wine selections. All of Cuvaison and Brandlin wines are made from 100 percent estate grown grapes from their certified sustainable vineyards in Napa Valley. Cost is $35 per guest, plus tax and gratuity. Brennan’s of Houston, 3300 Smith, will be hosting the final Date Night Cooking Class of the series on Friday, September 18, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The night will include hors d'oeuvres, a three-course meal with matching wines, and live cooking demonstrations from Executive Chef Danny Trace. The “Where I’m From” inspired menu features Smoked Duck & Collard Green Gumbo, Sorghum Lacquered Yellowfin Tuna, and Louisiana Apple Parfait. Tickets ($150 per couple not including gratuity) are available for purchase now through September 17.

On Tuesday, September 22 at 7 p.m., Bistro Provence, 13616 Memorial, will welcome the end of summer by hosting a wine dinner featuring wines from Provence’s Domaine Rouge Bleu. The five -course, wine-paired menu features dishes such as Octopus Provençale, Beef cheeks en Daube, and a Tout Choco (all chocolate) dessert. The Alamo Draughthouse Vintage Park, 114 Vintage Park, will be hosting The Ultimate Willy Wonka Party on Wednesday, September 23. Wonka's original golden ticket kids will join the audience in a special screening of the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Guests will get to stuff their faces with chocolate and candy during the film and Paris Themmen (Mike Teevee) and Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt) will answer the crowd's questions during for an extended Q&A after the film. In addition, everybody who attends the party will receive an autographed poster.
