(UPDATED) Where to Eat on Father's Day 2013: Treat Dad to Something Sweet & Something with Meat

Unlike Mother's Day, Father's Day is not filled with champagne and mimosa brunches, or frou-frou breakfasts-in-bed. But, that doesn't mean you can't take your dad out for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even cupcakes this Father's Day.

Show Dad how much you love him by filling his stomach with delicious food from one of these many Houston restaurants offering Father's Day specials.

Line & Lariat 220 Main St., In Hotel Icon, 832-667-4470

Line & Lariat will offer a three-course menu featuring bacon-wrapped quail, filet mignon and homemade ice cream and sorbet for just $35 per person. Treat your dad to a delicious lunch or dinner from 11 a.m. until the restaurant closes.

La Casa del Caballo 302 Westheimer Road, 832-623-6467

Take your father to La Casa del Caballo for a complimentary glass of wine and a 12-ounce ribeye steak with an 8-ounce grilled lobster for $55 from noon until 5 p.m. Make your reservations today so you can treat dad to a delicious surf and turf meal.

Treat Dad to a three-course menu for $40 per person at both The Bird & the Bear and Ouisie's Table with choices from oysters Rockefeller and tuna tartar for the first course, Ousie's chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and mustard greens or shrimp and cheese grits for the second course and a lemon ice box pie for dessert. Each course will be served with an alcoholic drink, as well.

From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., treat Dad to a three-course brunch at Backstreet Cafe. For $45 per person, you can enjoy appetizers such as panzanella salad with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, arugula and chunks of Parmesan, or corn chowder with cornbread croutons and bacon crumbled on top. Your dad will love the grilled ribeye steak with French fries for an entrée, or huevos rancheros with grilled hanger steak, cotija cheese, refried beans, fried eggs and salsa served with corn tortillas for a more breakfast-like entrée. From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., Haven will offer a Father's Day brunch to satisfy any father's sweet or savory cravings. If your dad has a sweet tooth, he will definitely love the brioche French toast with peach sugar-cane syrup and vanilla bean Greek yogurt or the cinnamon roll with pecans, peaches and a flambé peach sauce. For the savory cravings, your dad can choose from a wide selection of eggs, omelettes and meats, like the chateau loin of beef with butternut squash and pecan hash, or the eggs Broussard with a tasso ham-puff pastry, poached eggs, hollandaise and a stuffed tomato with creamed greens.

Join Hugo's for a Father's Day brunch buffet for just $39 per adult and $12 per child. The buffet will be filled with authentic Mexican dishes from Hugo's from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

For just $55 per adult and $25 per child ages 12 and under, take dad to dinner to enjoy Maine lobster bisque with a tarragon crème fraiche and brioche croutons, or a prime beef tartare served with a quail egg for the first course, followed by a selection of meats, like a petit filet served with crispy jumbo shrimp or a Kurobuta pork chop and a warm potato salad for the main course. Finish the night with the restaurant's dessert trio featuring a double chocolate brownie served with a pecan caramel sauce, a coconut panna cotta and a strawberry cheesecake lollipop.

Rather than just taking dad to brunch, lunch or dinner this Father's Day, take him to Sparrow Bar + Cookshop for a grilling class with Chef Monica Pope where she will teach your dad her tips and tricks when it comes to grilling. To participate in the class and enjoy the food, each ticket will cost $70, or $50 to cook and $20 to just eat. Purchase tickets for you and your dad online.

What dad doesn't want a burger on Father's Day? Take your dad to both of The Counter locations this Father's Day and mention the phrase, "BFD", or Burgers for Dad so he can enjoy a complimentary 1/3 lb burger. The only catch is that a paying guest must accompany each Dad and you must purchase a 1/3 lb burger, as well.

Gratifi Kitchen + Bar is serving brunch all weekend long to help you celebrate Father's Day. On Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., your father can enjoy classic eggs benedict, a waffle and poached eggs and a selection of whiskey drinks and cocktails.

Because Dads are notorious for loving meat, treat your dad to a Meat Lovers Menu at Charivari from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Your father can start the meal off with a German beer on draft, followed by seared duck foie gras filet for an appetizer. No matter which steak he chooses, he can pair it with side dishes, such as, sautéed mushrooms, jalapeno bacon macaroni and cheese or chateau potatoes. You can't forget dessert. Everyone in your family can indulge in Del Frisco's famous six layer lemon cake covered in three different icings. No one will leave dinner hungry, that's for sure.

Start the meal off with a cucumber dip or hummus and eggplant appetizer, followed by a choice of Bosnian musaka with eggplant, zucchini, ground beef and a béchamel sauce, beef and rice-stuffed cabbage leaves, or grilled lamb chops. Finish this free meal for Dad with a sugary and tasty dessert, like a filo pastry filled with vanilla custard.

Brennan's of Houston will be offering a Father's Day Brunch prix fixe menu for $55 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Start the meal off with the classic turtle soup au sherry or enjoy smoked salmon with Texas oysters, purple potatoes, caviar and asparagus. The main entrees include several sweet and savory items to make a satisfyingly delicious brunch. You won't be able to pass up the Eggs Brennan complete with an English muffin, Canadian bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise, asparagus and artichoke. For something a little sweeter, order the onion braised Berkshire pork paired with a malted waffle, poached egg, peppers and rhubarb cane syrup. Brennan's also offers a multitude of desserts like peach cobbler, white chocolate bread pudding and the sinful, yet delicious classic bananas foster prepared tableside.

Treat Dad to brunch from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Rainbow Lodge. Enjoy a menu filled with a variety of salads, seafood, breakfast and comforting side dishes. Start the meal off right with the slow smoked duck and Andouille sausage gumbo, or the watermelon, ricotta salata salad with banana peppers. Dad will love the choice of seafood and breakfast items for a main entrée, such as a crab omelet or brioche French toast with peaches, walnuts and bacon.

Sylvia's will also offer an omelette station, side dishes and of course, enchiladas.

Turquoise Grill is offering a three-course special Father's Day menu featuring a sampler of mixed frilled items, like lamb chops, chicken, beef and gyros, as well as a pan seared blackened tilapia with shrimp. For dessert, Dad can choose from baklava or chocolate cake; he even gets a complimentary glass of champagne or wine.

Fogo de Chao 8250 Westheimer Road, 713-978-6500

If your Dad really loves meat, then you can't go wrong with making a reservation at Fogo de Chao, aka meat central. Feast on 16 cuts of meat served on roasting skewers for the best dinner you could give any meat-loving Dad. To make things even better, Fogo de Chao will give each Dad a Fogo promo card so they can come back for a free lunch or dinner. If you pay for dinner, Dad basically gets two free meals. Now that's a wonderful Father's Day gift if you ask me.

Tony Mandola's Gulf Coast Kitchen 1212 Waugh, 713-528-3474

From 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., Tony Mandola's will be offering two Father's Day Specials. For $36, Dad can enjoy snapper veracruzana complete with a green olive ranchera sauce, and lobster and crab meat. For $32, Dad can have a meatier dish of pork Milanese, which comes with two breaded and fried bone-in pork chops complete with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce on top. Each special item comes with a Sicilian salad on the side, along with rosemary roasted Yukon potatoes and asparagus. Tony Mandola's will be serving its regular menu, along with Sunday Brunch, as well.
