Guys.

Before we go any further, let's get one thing straight: Dot Coffee Shop and House of Pies are not underrated in any universe. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but we're pretty sure those two spots consistently get the credit they deserve for being excellent greasy spoon eateries.

We didn't get as many comments on this query as we did on the previous query related to Tex-Mex restaurants (though we didn't really expect to), but there was much more consensus among these suggestions than usual. Aside from minimal griping about what is/is not underrated, y'all stayed pretty civil in the comments section. We were truly touched.

Moving on!

Here's your latest poll of the most underrated greasy spoon in Houston.

As usual, you get one vote, and only one vote. Use it wisely, friends.

The poll will close Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., so be sure to vote before then.

And if, in the interest of accuracy, you decide to try all of these places before casting your vote, we encourage you to take some TUMS along for the ride.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
