What You Read in 2014: The Most Popular Eating Our Words Posts of the Year

At three posts a day, five days a week, we put out a bare minimum of 780 posts a year here on Eating Out Words. It's harder than it looks but more rewarding than you might think. We're glad to be in the position to shine a light on the good and the bad in the world of Houston food. We have a damn good food scene and a damn good food community.

Every year around this time we like to take a step back and look back at what you looked at over the past 12 months, the stories and lists that you spent the most time reading and debating over. Thanks to all of you who make Eating Our Words and the Houston Press part of your daily reading. Let's do this all again next year, yeah?

"Upon arriving back at the winery," the Duchman employee said, "an employee in the tasting room told me that Damian was on his 'Mule' -- basically an all-terrain golf cart -- and he was headed behind the winery. I headed outside, and upon reaching the corner of the building I heard a tire burst, which was the tire of my Toyota Tacoma. As I rounded the corner I witnessed Damian smash the back window of my truck."

Quanell X also clarified that the disagreement began because the three alleged victims saw two Hispanic girls get a to-go cup for their margaritas and leave the premises. When the alleged victims then asked for to-go cups for their drinks, they were informed that restaurant policy forbids alcohol to leave the building. One of the women then asked to see the policy, and the manager told her no. She asked for a refund and he again told her no. When she asked why, according to a video the lawyers released to Fox, the manager replied, "Because you're a bitch."

Absolut Vodka Releases Limited-Edition 'Texas' Flavor

The serrano chili (which I think should actually be spelled "chile" unless referring to the powder) I understand, but what's so Texan about cucumber? I remember getting big styrofoam cups filled with cucumbers and chili powder at paleta shops in Corpus growing up, but I think that's more of a South Texas thing than a Texas thing.
