Wingtoberfest: Put Your Judging Pants On

Today is German-American Day, which falls conveniently in the middle of Oktoberfest season. And we thought that German-American Day was coincidentally the perfect day to announce our own upcoming Oktoberfest party: Wingtoberfest!

Wingtoberfest will take place on Thursday, October 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Xuco Xicana, whose own wings were just named Best Wings in our 2011 Best of Houston® issue. And true to its name, Wingtoberfest will feature a wide selection of wings for you to sample.

The Party Fowl food truck, Barcadia, Xuco Xicana and a fourth restaurant -- yet to be chosen -- will all be offering samples of their wicked wings at the event, which is open to the public and free.

The first 100 people at Wingtoberfest will receive two wings from each restaurant, then vote on their favorite. The winner will be announced that evening at 9 p.m., but you'll want to stick around anyway: El XX is having happy hour all night, serving 50 cent wings (in case you want more) along with $4 margaritas and $3 Tecates with a shot of Patron.

Want more information about Wingtoberfest? RSVP on our Facebook page and keep an eye out for updates: the fourth restaurant will be announced soon, as will more details about beer samples to be paired with each set of wings.

What, you thought we were going to have an Oktoberfest party without beer? For shame.
