Hurricane Harvey's unprecedented rains unleashed hell upon the Texas Gulf Coast, and Houston's Wortham Theater Center suffered brutal losses from the flooding. Already arts organizations like the Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera are scrambling to adjust their season schedules and move to other venues when possible. The five-day rainfall event caused tremendous damage to the center and to the Theater District parking garages, and the multi-million dollar restoration is expected to continue through mid-2018.
