Thousands Rally Outside the NRA Convention in Houston Calling For An End to Gun Violence

A Rally Against Gun Violence took place across the street from the NRA convention in Houston.
Thousands of people gathered in the blistering heat at Discovery Green Friday in support of the “A Rally Against Gun Violence” taking place across the street from the NRA convention being held at George Brown Convention Center in Houston. Protesters, advocacy groups, local, state, and national figures including U.S. Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, and candidate for Texas governor Beto O’Rourke were among those rallying for gun law reform in response to Uvalde massacre and other mass shootings across the country. The rally was hosted by advocacy groups including Moms Demand Action, March for Our Lives, Texas American Federation of Teachers, Houston Federation of Teachers, Black Lives Matter Houston, Indivisible Houston, FIEL Houston, and the Harris County Democratic Party. {Photos by Violeta Alvarez
