Houston Ride of Silence 2014

BikeHouston lead the Houston Ride of Silence as part of a worldwide movement in over 350 cities on Wednesday, May 21st, 2014. The Ride of Silence departed Memorial Park at 7pm and traveled together, mostly in white shirts, to Downtown on Washington Ave. The ride, which began in 2003, is to honor those who have been injured or killed while riding a bicycle. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.
