In the Midst of Thursday Night's Heavy Storms: Downed Trees, Flooding and Heavy Rain

High winds weren't the only problem.

Even with predictions of bad weather ahead of time, the severity of the Thursday night's storms surprised many people in the Houston area on May 16, 2024 complete with a tornado warning. Some organizations — ECHO — were able to carry on, while others had to throw in the towel — HISD — when they lost power. By Friday morning several thousands of people remained without power.
