The Black Box Theatre Group mounts Mark Medoff's comedy The Wager at the Ensemble Theatre for a weekend run. In the play, a pair of college students concocts a plan that's seemingly bound for tragedy. Brainy Leeds prompts his jock roommate Ward to seduce the young, bored wife of a bumbling professor. Moreover, he bets Ward that if he succeeds, the professor will try to kill him. It doesn't sound like the set-up for a laugh fest, but Medoff finds the funny side of the situation as the other characters scramble to escape Leeds's snare, learning more about themselves than is comfortable. 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday. 3535 Main Street. For information, call 832-618-8931. $25.
