Big City Rock is appropriately named, considering the band is from a big city (Los Angeles) and it plays rock music. The quintet’s crystalline, synthesized, retro sound is nothing new in fact, Big City Rock can sound like the Killers’ sloppy seconds. But there are plenty of catchy choruses and hooks to sing along to on their eponymous debut, which has gained the band plenty of fans across the country (MySpace total: 14,702). Today, the group comes to Walter’s with tourmates October Fall. They’re sure to fill the small room with their big sound. NeedToBreathe opens at 8 p.m.
