Lore has it that we have the Zoroastrians (a religious sect dating back to 5 BCE) to thank for instigating the phenomenon of gathering eggs at Easter. They collected and painted them to celebrate spring. If any organization can actually introduce a new angle to a tradition that old, it’s the Orange Show, which hosts its annual Easter Orange Hunt today. The main twist is that we have finally evolved beyond eggs in favor of – you guessed it – oranges, which will be hidden along with other treats. Bring the kids and some baskets and check out traditional British folk dancing, create Art Car trophies (which you get to keep) and, of course, peer into every cranny of the Orange Show’s grounds ร‘ which, given the colorful mosaics and zany folk art, are far more interesting than the average backyard. 1 p.m. 2401 Munger. For information, call 713-926-6368 or visit www.orangeshow.org. Free to $1.
