Finally, a college party that doesn’t take place in a cramped dorm room. Each year, students at the University of Houston build a small town to host Frontier Fiesta, an open-to-the-public party to show off the campus. This year’s slate of attractions includes concerts by national acts (Tejano band Jimmy Gonzalez & Grupo Mazz, hot rappers Dem Franchise Boyz, and country rockers Reckless Kelly and the Randy Rogers Band), as well as dance/music/cultural performances by a number of student groups and frats. Throw in a bunch of rides, a cook-off and a parade, and it’s a bit more than your average school carnival. The fiesta runs today through April 1. UH’s Robertson Stadium, Scott at Holman.
