There have been two separate reports of skeletal remains found in the Houston area over the past week. The first set of bones was found September 24 by the U.S. Forestry Service in the National Forest in Montgomery County.
The remains were found near Forest Service Road 234 off of Cavalry Road and are believed to be those of an adult, though identity, cause of death and gender have yet to be determined.
The second set of remains were found in Hermann Brown Park at 200 Maxey Road on September 27. Police have tentatively identified the victim as Victor Figueroa Nunez, 53, of Houston. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
A city worker discovered bones scattered in a wooded area of the park. Evidence on the scene provided the tentative identification.
Investigators are asking anyone who knew the victim or has information on the case to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
