London’s National Theatre brings a live production of Treasure Island to American audiences via screenings in movie theaters including Houston. With a new stage adaptation by Bryony Lavery, Treasure Island is an action-driven tale of murder, mutiny, and money. Giving a new spin on the classic, the beloved cabin-boy, Jim, is in fact played by a female. Other women are also cast throughout the production, mixing genders for the once no-girls-allowed tale.

In the spirit of true-adventure tales, this family-friendly production opens on a dark and stormy night. Young Jim opens the door to a mysterious stranger and the adventure begins with a mysterious sea chest filled with secrets, pirates, talking parrots and a barrel full of laughs. Polly Findlay.
