Nestled beside White Oak Bayou, among trees, waterfalls, gazebos and birdhouses, is Houston’s oldest log cabin, and now its most romantic restaurant, La Tour d’Argent (2011 Ella Boulevard, 713-864-9864). Bypass the masculine room with its dark paneling and antler chandelier and head toward the bayou. There you’ll find a room appointed with all you need for love: a piano, red velvet, a love seat, torch lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the water. Well, that’s not everything you need. The restaurant’s Bayou Lounge can provide the right drink too: a sinfully delicious libation called a Chocolate Delight. Rich, smooth and incredibly potent, a few sips of it will either help you put the moves on that special someone or convince you you’re better off alone. But bartender Moh has a warning for lushes and lovebirds alike: “Don’t try to drink three of these and stand up too quickly. You may wake up and find yourself staring at some antlers.”
Bayou Lounge’s Chocolate Delight:
1 1/4 ounces Stoli Vanil
3/4 ounce Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
Shake over ice, then strain into a chilled martini glass. Repeat until your partner says yes, or you can’t remember his or her name.
