On Monday, June 15, local non-profit 86 Cancer and Batangaย Houston, 908 Congress, are hosting a multi-pop up with some of Houston’s best chefs to benefit Chef David Guerrero and his family in his fight against cancer. Raise funds while enjoying excellent bites from the city’s culinary stars, including masterminds like Rishi Singh of Batanga, John Sheely of Mockingbird Bistro Wine Bar, and Erin Smith from Main Kitchen & 806 Lounge. Tickets are $95 and include 12 tasting tickets.ย
Beginning earlier this week and running on select Wednesdays through August 12, Landryโs, Inc. Signature Group restaurants will host their annual โSummer Chef Seriesโ dinners, which feature an exclusive dining experience hosted by a different award-winning executive chef each week. With a laundry list of grade A restaurants including Grotto, The Oceanaire, and La Griglia, the dinners showcase carefully-crafted menus set in an intimate and inviting environment, where each guest will have the opportunity interact with the Chef and his team. Following the successful re-launch of the Bistro in December, Texas-born and Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef Austin Simmons is ready to roll out his new culinary concept. Cureight by Hubbell & Hudson,ย 24 Waterway,ย will open Thursday, June 18 and will introduce The Woodlands community to the allure and popularity of curated tasting menus. The 25-seat intimate dining venue will be open only Thursday to Saturday and as the name suggests, will spotlight eight course meals plus wine pairings along with an interactive chefโs table. The Houstonia Burger Bash will take place on Thursday, June 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at CityCentre, 800 Town & Country. Houston area restaurants, including burger buffs Grub Burger Bar, JerryBuilt Homegrown Burgers, and Stanton’s City Bites, will be bringing out their burger A-game. Tickets ($30 for one, $25 each for two) include all you can polish off food and drink, plus live music and entertainment.
On Monday, June 29 at 7 p.m., Underbelly, 1100 Westheimer, will be hosting a dinner in honor of Chef Steven Satterfieldโs cookbook, Root to Leaf. Satterfield, a three-time James Beard Award finalist for Best Chef: Southeast, has been dubbed the โVegetable Shamanโ by The New York Timesโ Sam Sifton. Chef Chris Shepherd and the Underbelly team will cook a multi-course feast inspired by recipes in Satterfieldโs cookbook, which celebrates seasonal produce and Southern cuisine. Tickets ($175 per person) are available for purchase and include food, wine, a signed copy of the cookbook.ย
