What’s the difference between a regular piano-and-singer show and a cabaret show? “I talk to you,” says Sharon Montgomery, star of the Bistro Calais cabaret. “You’re part of the show. We really cater to you and involve you. It’s personal. It’s like a party in my living room, but with great food and fine wine — I’d have chips and beer; this is nicer,” laughs Montgomery. “The interaction between us and the audience, that’s what cabaret is about. It’s not just us being up there spouting out tunes.

“If you’ve never seen live entertainment that doesn’t involve a television screen playing in the background, you owe it to yourself to check us out,” Montgomery says. 7 p.m. Wednesdays. 2811 Bammel Lane. For information and reservations, call 713-529-1314 or visit www.bistrocalais.com. Free.
