It wasnt a lack of fans that pushed comedian Sinbad off the stage; it was the Internal Revenue Service. Sinbad got his start in the late 80s, doing stand-up and appearing in the television series A Different World. He reached a peak in the 90s, starring in his own show and films such as Jingle All The Way. Last year, after a long hiatus (he was resolving some major tax issues), he starred in his first comedy special in 13 years, called Sinbad, Where U Been?
Now Sinbads on tour and making a stop in Houston. He doesnt want anyone to call it a comeback, but to be honest, the tag is accurate. Along with his tour, hes starring in a new reality show called Its Just Family, documenting his return to the spotlight with the help of his wife and two kids. Sinbads observational humor is family-friendly and centers around issues like marriage, children, love and current events. 7 p.m. Texas Southern University, 3100 Cleburne. For information, call 713-313-7970 or visit www.tsu.edu. $10 to $50.
