In celebration of Bridgerton Season 4, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is debuting two limited-edition flavors at Houston scoop shops and online. Queen Charlotte Sponge Cake launches January 15, a lavender-tinted sponge and custard treat with bright berries, inspired by the regal monarch. Earl Grey Crème Brûlée arrives February 12 in shops (online February 9), featuring fragrant Earl Grey custard with burnt-sugar candy crunch reminiscent of a torched crème brûlée.
Common Bond celebrates the sixth year of its Mardi Gras King Cake partnership with Sky High for Kids and The Hangry Houstonian, supporting childhood cancer patients at Texas Children’s Hospital. Traditional Cinnamon and Raspberry Cream Cheese King Cakes, DIY King Cake Kits and Mini King Cakes are available, with proceeds benefiting Sky High for Kids and. Full-size Traditional and Raspberry King Cakes, DIY King Cake kits and and donated kits (to be delivered to patients on Fat Tuesday) can be preordered through February 14. On Tuesday, January 20, Etoile Cuisine et Bar, 1101-11 Uptown Park , celebrates winter’s culinary jewel with a special four-course Black Truffle Dinner crafted by chef and co-owner Philippe Verpiand. Courses highlight Perigord truffles in dishes like soft-cooked egg with mushroom-leek soup, trumpet mushroom risotto, open-faced veal ragout ravioli, and dark chocolate mousse with truffle ice cream. Cost is $124 per person plus tax and gratuity; wine pairings available.
Bayou & Bottle, 1300 Lamar, will host its 9th Anniversary on Wednesday, January 21, offering a special anniversary flight featuring all three exclusive Bayou & Bottle single barrels. The $27 flight includes Garrison Brothers Bayou & Bottle Selection, Elijah Craig 8-Year Bourbon Toasted Barrel and Bayou & Bottle Maker’s Mark Private Select, available while supplies last. The bourbon bar also continues its Master Whiskey Tasting Series, with two-hour sessions available by reservation with a welcome cocktail, four whiskey tastings and lite bites. Perseid, 4110 Loretto, will welcome chef Adam Ritter of Bûcheron for a one-night Shooting Star Guest Chef Series dinner spotlighting his French-inspired cooking on Thursday, January 22 beginning with a cocktail and canapes reception at 6 p.m. Highlights of the multi-course, family-style meal include venison tartare with poached egg yolk and spruce tips, foie gras terrine, celery root tortelloni in acorn-chicken broth, Minnesota-raised American wagyu filet with sauce bordelaise and a cinnamon roll dessert with cream cheese ice cream.
