Best Beer Garden: Saint Arnold Brewing Company

A garden is nice, but the yard, the house and the neighborhood which surround it are important, too. Saint Arnold’s beer garden is a perennial favorite in these proceedings because, like all our favorite gardens, important, needed things grow there.

Good vibes sprout, thanks to the brewery’s delicious beers, ciders and food offerings. The massive seating area ensures lots of opportunity to cultivate fun, warm feelings. The history of tilled soil there – everything from birthday celebrations to wedding anniversaries to Astros, Texans and, in 2026, World Cup watch parties – ensures a reliable yield of good times.

Because the beer garden is massive and fertile, what’s grown there vines out onto the surrounding grounds in important ways. The oldest craft brewery in Texas is a popular place for small business owners to sell their wares on marketplace weekends. Local musicians and tattoo artists share their art in and outside the beer garden during special events like 713 Day and SpringStock Music Fest. Every February, professional and would-be chefs gather for the brewery’s One Pot Showdown, a cooking competition to benefit Kid’s Meals. From its beer garden, Saint Arnold literally finds a way to feed folks in the Houston neighborhoods which surround it. That’s the sort of nourishment we want from a garden, even one primarily serving tasty craft beers.
