Thousands of hardy Houstonians will start Thanksgiving Day at the 17th Annual Turkey Trot. Races include 5K and 10K walks and runs for adults, and a Kids K. All proceeds once again benefit Sheltering Arms Senior Services. “By running in the Trot, you’re not only taking strides toward good health but showing your support of Houston’s elderly and giving back to an often underserved and neglected population,” says Arms representative Melissa Houser. “Plus, you can have that extra slice of pie without feeling guilty!” Pie? How about a way to work off that case of Saint Arnold’s Oktoberfest? 8 a.m. Uptown Park, 1400 Post Oak Boulevard. For information, call 713-685-6577 or visit www.shelteringarms.org. Free to $35.
