Some new artists are hanging around the Aerosol Warfare Gallery. “We kind of wanted to open the doors and see who wanted to walk through it,” says co-founder/curator GONZO247. The predominantly graffiti- and street-based art space branched out to include a number of other mediums in its “2010 Year-Round Exhibition.” “[We] have this really cool hardcore graffiti piece and right next to it [there’s] this crazy collage,” says GONZO. Also included in the more than 60 works are an eight-foot-tall sculpture made of aluminum cans and intricate oil paintings. “I don’t think we’ve ever shown oil paintings,” says GONZO. But AW isn’t leaving its old friends behind — there’s work by street artists such as locals Ghost Town and Color One as well as Chicago’s Rome Won, Gape and Denz One. The Chicago artists, whose work will be highlighted in a special installation area, will be in town to say hello at the opening reception from 7 to 11 p.m., July 25.
