Student artwork is the focus of the 2011 Summer Studios Installations at Project Row Houses. Seven students from local universities spent six weeks in residency at PRH, working alongside well-known Houston artists and members of the Third Ward community. Each then completed an installation based on the experience. Working in a variety of materials, from painting to assemblage, the student artists focused on a variety of issues including race, gender, class issues and politics. Together they provide a peek into the sensibilities of up-and-coming Houston artists. Thereยs an opening reception 6 to 8 p.m. August 13.
