It’s been a couple of weeks since the celebrity-studded hoopla that’s the Cinema Arts Film Festival. More than a few film fanatics are going through withdrawal. But not to worry, the next dose of screen time overindulgence is right around the corner when the 2nd Annual Houston Comedy Film Festival arrives at the Alamo Drafthouse-West Oaks. For three days, you can enjoy more than four hours of comedy-flix fun every day by up-and-coming filmmakers who want nothing more than to make audiences laugh (well, that and a really great distribution deal).

More than 40 films will be screened during the festival, including Los Four McKifikos by Tucker Davila Wood from Spain and Jon Wuz Here by Eddie Rodriguez from Houston. Screening are feature-length films, shorts, animation, stand-up clips and music videos. One of the nice things about the festival is that it includes works from every budget range, so it’s not about who has money or fancy cameras, but who has a sense of humor. 6:30 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Alamo Drafthouse, West Oaks, 1000 West Oaks Mall. For information, visit www.houstoncomedyfilmfestival.com. $8.50.
