When jazz drummer Bubba Thomas saw that talented young students werent getting the musical education they needed, he put to-gether the first Summer Jazz Workshop. That was back in 1972. 40 Seasons of Jazz Photo Exhibit, currently on display at the Houston Public Librarys Central location, documents the programs growth from a small-scale workshop held at a local church to a nationally recognized musical powerhouse. Photos in the exhibit show the students, their instructors and guest artists in the classroom, rehearsals and performances around the country. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
