Houston’s Mercury Baroque ensemble is ready to take you on A Night in Madrid with a concert dedicated to the works of the classical composer and cellist Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805). Though Italian by birth, Boccherini lived most of his working life in Spain, whose geography was a great influ-ence on the composer. Boccherini’s work reflected his adopted country but still paid homage to home. Today’s program features his famous “Fan-dango Quintet for Guitar and Strings” and “Symphony in D Minor (La Casa del Diavolo).” Also on the bill is “Night Music in the Streets of Madrid,” with replications of the sounds heard on an evening stroll through the city. 8 p.m. Wortham Theatre, 501 Texas. For information, call 713-533-0080 or visit www.mercurybaroque.org. $20 to $55.
