The Houston Symphony goes all-American for A Star-Spangled Salute at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski conducts a repertoire of rousing American standards, and Simon and Garfunkel tribute artists Jonathan Beedle and A.J. Swearing perform a selection of pop hits. A saxophone quartet made up of Mitchell Brackett, Oscar Gonzalez, Zachary Martinez and Chase Skweres also perform during the concert; the Jersey Village High School students won the Houston Symphonyโ€™s 2012 Young Artist Competition.Tchaikovskyโ€™s immortal 1812 Overture is set as the grand finale, complete with bombastic cannons. And speaking of things that explode, a fireworks presentation rounds out the evening.
