Summer silliness abounds in Old Town Spring. The Ace Theatreย’s melodrama Alaska orย…The Secret of Yonder Mountain tells the tale of a girl who fears her man has died (aw, sniffle, sniffle). When she goes searching for him, she discovers that heย’s struck it rich in the Alaskan mountains (oh, happy days!). But real trouble starts after he meets a couple of shady neย’er-do-wells looking to steal his fortune (boo-hiss). The characters have names like Persephone Proudheart, Cyril Twigbucket and Goldust Gertie, so the story canย’t possibly turn out badly. Well, at least not for Persephone and Cyril. We canย’t say the same for Goldust.
