At potluck dinners, the question is, will there be too much of this and not enough of that? But the folks at Super Happy Fun Land, who are hosting their Annual Veggie Thanksgiving Potluck today, arenยt worried. The event is in its fifth year, and owner Brian Arthur says too much is never a problem. (Insert joke about pot, luck and SHFL here.) Seriously, though, is there something thatยs usually lacking? ยUh, corn, yeah, thatยs it,ย Arthur says. So, bring corn. But just you, not you. If everyone brings corn that wonยt be good. Well, actually, the crew at SHFL will probably just figure out a way to make art with it.
Anyways, back to the feast. Arthur says its purpose is to give vegetarians a welcoming environment on Thanksgiving. ยA lot of vegetarians feel alienated,ย he says, adding that the potluck sees a lot of returning faces, including families. So parents, bring your kids, and kids, bring your parents.
This yearยs dinner will be a last supper of sorts, as SHFL recently announced itยs relocating in January. ยWe love this place, but weยre really excited about moving,ย Arthur says. Get your grub on one last time at Houstonยs favorite fun house and stay for performances by Suspenderman, Poopy and Flakey, and Llorrac & Modofejj. Dinner is served at 7 p.m. 2610 Ashland. For information, call 713-880-2100 or visit www.superhappyfunland.com. Free, but bring a dish.
