Hear Norwegian folk tunes on an authentic Hardanger fiddle during the Apollo Chamber Players’ Scandinavian Spirit concert. The fiddle has eight or nine strings as opposed to a violin’s four, though only four are played, while the others resonate with a sort of echo sound. Dedicated to exploring European folk music, the Apollo Chamber Players will also perform Grieg’s String Quartet in G-minor and Sibelius’s string quartet, Voces Intimae. Composed in the winter of 1908-1909, Voces Intimae is the only string quartet Sibelius wrote as a mature artist.

The Apollo Chamber Players recently completed a tour of the northeastern United States that included a triumphant stop at Carnegie Hall.
