Bargain hunting is the new cool. And Theatre Southwest is offering a bargain–hunterย’s dream date for the most important party of the year. After appetizers, Peter Shafferย’s Tony-nominated Black Comedy will get the laughs rolling. The farce follows an artist trying to sell his work to some potential buyers, but thereย’s one complication ย— the lights have gone out. The show is known for its central shtick ย— when characters are in total darkness, we can watch them fumbling about because the stage lights are up. Silly as this might sound, the play is hilarious. The merriment continues after the show with a catered buffet dinner from Georgeย’s Pastaria and Devine Catering featuring Italian food plus the requisite cabbage and black-eyed peas (we could all use a little luck this year). After dinner, dance the night away until the stroke of midnight, when itย’s noisemakers and merriment all around. All that, and itย’s only $50 per person and $95 per couple. The party starts at 7:30 p.m. 8944-A Clarkcrest. For information, call 713-661-9505 or visit www.theatresouthwest.org.
