We see his arts executive side, ever worried about building audiences, in “Shrew Al Fresco,” in which he contrasts seeing Shakespeare’s famous play in a lush theater setting with the outdoor festivals which most Americans get their Bard fix from: “in parks, on blankets and hard chairs / gnawing on chicken bones and watermelon rinds / kids chasing each other, grannies asleep.
