Music fans listen to greatest hits compilations in rock, jazz, country, even obscure klezmer music. So why not one for the opera? That’s the idea behind Chorus! The Houston Grand Opera Chorus singers are stringing together famous choral selections, all fully staged and costumed. The show features familiar numbers from legendary operas such as Carmen, Il Trovatore and Madame Butterfly as well as more recent shows including War and Peace, Carousel and The Pirates of Penzance. It’s a chance for HGO’s supernumeraries (that’s the chorus to you and me) to shine. 7:30 p.m. January 30, February 7, 11 and 13, 2 p.m. February 1. Wortham Theater, 500 Texas.
