Apparently, the fifth of any month is now fair game for celebration. All you have to do is insert Cinco de in front of said months Spanish name and presto: party time. The folks at Fitzgeralds are leading the trend in 2008 with Cinco de Año, (fifth of the year) a night of Latin, Salsa, Cumbia y Más (and more) according to its Web site.
Headlining the festivities is Los Skarnales spin-off Felipe Galván y Sus Carnales playing punk-infused rocksteady, rumba, dancehall, reggae and, of course, ska. The groups infectious sound is made deadlier by former Skarnales frontman Galváns unrelenting stage presence. He doesnt stop flailing about until the set is over, and most fans will find themselves doing the same as they shake, twist and wish that every day was Cinco de something. Ritmo Urbano and Sister Sister y Los Misters are also on the bill. 8 p.m. Fitzgeralds, 2706 White Oak. For information, call 713-862-3838 or visit www.fitzlive.com. $10.
