Cinema Bomar exposes its feminine side with “Bring on the Girls!” The collective’s latest round of vintage filmstrips features women on the move. Little women (and by that, we mean midgets) tap dance and hula themselves into a frenzy in the 1939 musical short Hawaiian Rhythm. Burlesque ladies shake it off in Dances That Thrill (1946), Coincraft Dance Shorts (1953) and two recorded performances featuring Moya Grifford. Ladies get down underwater in a synchronized swimming performance in By a Waterfall (1933), taken from the original motion picture Footlight Parade. And a woman moves merchandise in Magazine Model, a 1954 strip chronicling a pampered priss on her first modeling gig. See these ladies shake what their mammas gave them today at 8:30 p.m. Domy, 1709 Westheimer. For information, call 713-523-3669 or visit www.domystore.com. Free.
