Every year, 11 lucky art students are given Core residency at the Glassell School of Art (thatย’s the Museum of Fine Artsย’ teaching arm). After a year of working and studying, theyย’ve got something to show for it ย— the Core 2009 Artists in Residence Exhibition. (Thankfully, the art is way more imaginative than the showย’s name.) Among the works on display are Natasha Bowdoinย’s two large-scale works on paper, Julian Conradย’s geologically based work, Andres Janacuaย’s sculpture and James Shamย’s three-channel video installation. 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. Through April 17. Glassell School of Art, 5101 Montrose. For information, call 713-639-7500 or visit www.mfah.org. Free.
