Every year, 11 lucky art students are given Core residency at the Glassell School of Art (thatยs the Museum of Fine Artsย teaching arm). After a year of working and studying, theyยve got something to show for it ย the Core 2009 Artists in Residence Exhibition. (Thankfully, the art is way more imaginative than the showยs name.) Among the works on display are Natasha Bowdoinยs two large-scale works on paper, Julian Conradยs geologically based work, Andres Janacuaยs sculpture and James Shamยs three-channel video installation. 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. Through April 17. Glassell School of Art, 5101 Montrose. For information, call 713-639-7500 or visit www.mfah.org. Free.
