Debbie may have done Dallas, but she’s never done Houston before. Today’s presentation of Debbie Does Dallas is, according to director Mark Adams, the first production of the musical in Houston. The Debbie in question is Debbie Benton, captain of her high school cheerleading team. Ambitious, with stars in her eyes, Debbie wants to break into the big time — the Texas Cowgirl Cheerleader squad. She’s got the jumps and her pom-pom action is fine, but she needs the money for bus fare to the Big D.

Broke but ever resourceful, Debbie convinces her teammates to get after-school jobs and contribute their pay to her cause. When the girls realize the jobs pay too little, in steps the friendly Mr. Greenflet with an idea for something that’s sure to sell: sex. Teenage cheerleaders, sex, money, pretty blonds with dreams of hitting the big time — it’s all in there. 8 p.m. September 28. Through October 30. 1706 Alamo.
