Check out Peter Capaldi as he begins his turn as the 12th Doctor in the Doctor Who Season Premiere: Deep Breath. His selection as the latest incarnation of time-traveling alien hero/symbol of good/all-around good guy is controversial among fans (some thought it was time for a female Doctor and others wanted a younger version whoโd be similar to predecessors David Tennant and Matt Smith). Will Capaldi come close to gaining as much rabid love from fans as they did? Catch Deep Breath, the first episode of the season on the big screen, and decide for yourself. The nationwide screening has a few attached perks. In addition to seeing the entire first episode, thereโs a prequel celebrating the new Doctor and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Deep Breath. Jenna Coleman, who debuted as Clara Oswald during the 11thย Doctorโs reign, reprises her role as a Companion, this time to Capaldiโs Doctor. Also on board are Neve McIntosh as Madame Vastra, Catrin Stewart as Jenny Flint and Dan Starkey as Strax. Look for a cameo from Matt Smith, almost certainly in the form of a flashback.
7 p.m. with an additionalย 9:30 p.m. screening at some theaters. Locations vary. For information, visit fathomevents.com. $12.50.
