Felipe Esparza: Live and Uncut

Fans of “I’m not fat, I’m fluffy” comedian Gabriel Iglesias have heard him tell stories about his escapades with his wild-man friend Felipe. Now Houston audiences can hear those tales from Felipe Esparza himself when the comic takes the stage at the Houston Improv during his Live & Uncut tour. Most recently Esparza won the Last Comic Standing 2010 title, not an easy feat considering Esparza’s confrontational humor is as wild and wooly as his hair. A product of east Los Angeles, Esparza was known early on for his catch phrase, “What’s up, fool?” (It’s a phrase fans still shout at him on the street.) Esparza isn’t limiting himself to being a stand-up (or a sidekick); he’s worked on several film projects, including with Paul Rodriguez and Talia Shire in the film The Deported. 8 p.m. Houston Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For information, call 713-333-8800 or visit www.improvhouston.com. $20.
