There’s only one official New Year’s Eve party in Houston and it’s the Gloworama New Year’s Eve bash. The family fun starts off at 7 p.m. with live music and ice skating at Discovery Green. At 9:30 p.m. there’s a parade with illuminated Art Cars, scooters, bikes and other mobile contraptions gliding along the streets around the park. (Oh, expect a few fireballs and pyrotechnics.) And at 11:30 p.m. it’s the Big Glow, with fireworks and a 3D lightshow lighting up the downtown sky. The fun is free for everyone, but if you want VIP seats and treatment, opt for the pre-Glow party inside the George R. Brown Convention Center. 7 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney.
