The rain and grey clouds didn’t stop Houstonians from celebrating Juneteenth this year, with many attending Miller Outdoor Theatre’s “A Gulf Coast Juneteenth” event. Mayor Sylvester Turner was in attendance and Melanie Lawson served as emcee. The night began with a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation and featured performances from Sista’s the Musical, C.J. Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band, and Irma Thomas. (Photos by Mohammad Mia)
